Despite the onset of the rainy season in Guinea, weekly exports have held firm near their current all-time high of 6.4 Mt/week.
Whilst the initial momentum in January came from a demand-led restocking in China. Recently the trend has turned supply-driven, with some logistical assets in Guinea being temporarily repurposed from iron ore to bauxite exports until the TransGuinean Railway Company begins hauling Simandou’s iron ore, hopefully, before 2025 ends.
