Weekly Australian iron ore loadings hit a 5-year seasonal high

Kicking off the new fiscal year, Australia’s weekly iron ore loadings rose for a fourth straight week to 18.3Mt, marking a 5-year seasonal high.

Shipments from Port Hedland continue to catch up after Q1 weather delays, while Mineral Resources is close to completing the ramp-up of its Onslow project to 35Mtpa.

Looking ahead, with iron ore prices CFR China for Sep’25 briefly dropping below 100$/t last week, some Chinese steel mills may have stepped up buying as port stocks leave room for later restocking.
